The challenge

The challenge

With a highly complex legacy infrastructure, IOP Publishing was facing a challenge due to the environment being comprised of three storage systems across two sites. These systems were difficult to configure with several manual scripts in place, creating management overhead.

IOP Publishing was also experiencing a skills challenge as expertise in storage had left the business. In addition, the IT team at the publishing company had highlighted that the cost of providing disaster recovery in the existing environment was too high.

The solution

The solution

Proact’s heritage of successfully delivering cloud services made us the ideal partner to solve IOP Publishing’s challenges. With the ability to use the same technology as was used in the organisation’s primary data centre, Proact could introduce a single platform to provide Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Backup as a Service (BaaS), reducing the cost that would be required to provision two services using different technologies.

Taking advantage of the revamped infrastructure’s improved performance and capacity, IOP Publishing now has the ability to cater for both current and future workloads.
