Dole Nordic’s inventory turns over in 1.5 days – everything that comes in has to go out more or less the same day. Every hour of IT downtime has to be made up for within the same working day. The facility is highly automated with robots and advanced automation, all equipment connected and dependent on systems being available 24/7.

A business where every minute counts
With 4,500 pallets out per day and a high degree of automation, there is no margin for IT outages. Robots, warehouse automation and connected devices all need to be able to talk to the systems in real time. When something stops, the entire chain is affected – from incoming goods reception to outbound deliveries to the grocery chains’ stores.
We were not looking for a supplier, but a partner who could meet and understand us where we are today.
Solution
Dole Nordic chose Proact as its primary IT operations partner and today purchases managed services within Proact Hybrid Cloud, Managed Container Platform, backup, physical housing and network monitoring. Together, Proact takes full responsibility for the IT infrastructure on which the business rests.
Migration carried out in evenings, nights and weekends
One of the most demanding projects was the migration to new infrastructure – carried out with evening, night and weekend work, with Proact on hand throughout the process. By scheduling deployments outside of production hours, Dole Nordic was able to switch platforms without losing a single hour of daily distribution.

About Dole Nordics
Dole Nordic is responsible for the Dole Group’s Nordic distribution of fruit and vegetables and operates a 21,500 square meter logistics center in Helsingborg. From here, between 30,000 and 50,000 order lines and 4,500 pallets are shipped daily to Nordic grocery chains and wholesalers. The facility has 500 employees and receives 70–100 truck deliveries per day.
