In a highly digitised company like iba, the IT infrastructure has to be reliable and it must be able to provide the right levels of performance. Iba has to make sure that all database and communication applications, above its own software and test systems, should be available to employees at home and abroad and support their work.
However, growing data volumes on iba’s virtualisation platform began to slow down data access and backup processes. The existing infrastructure could no longer handle demands so iba decided to redesign and rebuild its data centre. The ultimate goal: to create reserves, improve performance and increase reliability in order to prepare for future requirements.
Optimisation requires analysis. That’s why we conducted a workshop to define goals and services. We took into consideration economic factors and technology trends to develop a cost-efficient and future-proof concept with products from Fujitsu, NetApp, Veeam and VMware. We then integrated this technology with existing solutions and optimised their use as part of a highly unified overall solution.
All workloads, including the development environment, are now distributed to iba’s two identically equipped data centres. Consolidation and symmetrical replication ensure true disaster recovery, centralised management, unified data protection and efficient use of resources.
The turbo effect of the new IT infrastructure was immediately noticeable in every digital process. iba’s core cell, internal product development, quadrupled the number of simultaneous test systems. Faster virtual test machines helped to speed up processes and improve quality by a factor of three.
With Proact as its IT partner, iba has been able to achieve its goals. Two-thirds less storage is now used thanks to new and improved systems and the firm has seen an enormous leap in performance. Administration is now much simpler and requires far less effort, the infrastructure has high availability and data can be recovered within minutes.
