Data storage upgrade for 14 sites of the Regional Public Prosecutor's Office in Brno

Challenge
The existing outdated technology no longer met the capacity, performance and security requirements for data storage. It was no longer possible to extend manufacturer support for the existing storage devices, resulting in an increased risk of availability in the event of failure and potential security incidents. Low capacity, performance and stability issues were affecting the Crown Prosecution Service’s operations and increasing maintenance costs and the risk of data loss.
Another goal was to solve the existing complicated backup process, which was solved by scripts without a direct connection between the data storage and the backup software, increasing the complexity of data management. “We expect the new solution to be more reliable, more scalable, faster and with sufficient capacity to meet our needs. Managing backups directly from the backup software will streamline the entire process. We also appreciate easier management, better visibility and faster access to information. In addition, the solution will give us greater variability in terms of connectivity to our existing infrastructure,” said Martin Ludin, Head of IT and Cybersecurity Administrator, Brno Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Solution
Improved performance and reliability at reduced costs and simplified data management

The new storage arrays offered much higher performance and reliability, eliminating previous capacity and stability issues. The new repository in each prosecutor’s office under the Regional State Prosecutor’s Office in Brno also provided us with better visibility, easier management and variable connectivity to our existing infrastructure,” said Martin Ludin, CIO and Cyber Security Administrator, Brno Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office.
