“Our customers expect us and our employees to provide reliable statements about ordered or already delivered products and services as well as availability at a good price-performance ratio,” says Stefan Dütsch, IT Coordinator at Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH. “For us, this means that we need IT that supports us both with regard to data security and agent regulations with granularly regulated access to information and status of projects.” Consequently, the IT of Taiyo Yuden Europe needed IT structures and modern tools that would enable employees to handle all processes in the company quickly and independently.
What is the current status of a specific project if the employee responsible for it is ill? How busy are the internal resources and when is who in the company reachable and available? Modern and powerful IT solutions, especially the well-known and popular Microsoft 365 package, solve precisely these questions and remain, above all, easy to use for everyone. In addition, the security and availability of all data had to be taken to a new level.
Derived from the network of the company, the increasingly widespread work in remote teams and the requirements of the customers, the goal of the IT project of Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH was to replace the old e-mail programme and its structural integration into the company and exchange it for a new, modern communication system — such as Microsoft 365. In order to increase data security, a better backup system was to be set up and the company’s own firewall optimised.
Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH decided to replace the previous e-mail solution “Zimbra” while at the same time revising all communication structures. In addition to classic e-mails, employees were to be empowered by and encouraged to use collaborative services such as Microsoft Teams. Therefore, shared mailboxes, chats, group distribution lists, manuals and documentation in MS Teams and much more are now part of the daily routine of the employees at Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH. This makes it possible to exchange information much faster and, even in the case of substitutions, without losing time or valuable details about the project. “Today, everyone can see the status of a project. Both the employees of a particular group and our client,” Stefan Dütsch reports.
Anyone who communicates must also store their information — and in a legally secure manner, of course. With the switch to Microsoft 365 and Backup as a Service by Proact Germany, Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH today is now able to archive all e-mails in a legally compliant manner as well as other information that is stored and processed in the new software.
What good is the best, most up-to-date and always-archived business data if it isn’t protected against external attacks? For this reason, Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH decided to optimise its fi rewall and move its data to globally redundant servers with first-class disaster recovery: Exchange Online. Thus, supported by Proact Germany, they retain control of their environment and host their e-mails on Microsoft servers.
Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH decided to work with Proact Germany because of the perfect match between their requirements and the offer. The convincing concept, which provided for simple licence management, promised to improve the security and performance of the entire company without overburdening the users. This convinced Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH. Proact Germany was able to convincingly answer all questions regarding data protection, including a certified data centre as well as the existing ISO 27001 certifi cation, even during the bidding phase. “What we really appreciate about working with Proact is that they have experts who develop solutions that really suit us. We were particularly convinced that Proact asked the right questions about our project right at the beginning. And without any buzzwords or ‘visionary’ ideas. We are also pleased that we can meet Proact in person over a short distance — whether at the trade fair or in the office in the Nuremberg area,” Stefan Dütsch sums up. Another factor that speaks for the trust in Proact Germany is that the parties involved always meet at on an even footing — also because of the very similar size of the companies.
Taiyo Yuden Europe GmbH is the European sales subsidiary of a Japanese electronics group. The company’s main business field is primarily concerned with the production of electronic components such as capacitors, coils, filters and assembly modules, such as radio modules for Bluetooth or WiFi and voltage converters.
